CIVITAS DEI is a cultural institution governed by Italian law, based in Florence with branches in Dubai and Jerusalem, that performs functions of public importance toward research, documentation and study in the fields of Hierosolimitan history and archeology, through the organization of conferences and seminars.

CIVITAS DEI produces editorial products, also in collaboration with international scientific institutions, dedicated to the enhancement of the historical, archaeological, religious and cultural heritage of Jerusalem.




The CIVITAS DEI Department of History is a transnational academic environment shaped to study the past of the city of Jerusalem using all available sources, the most innovative methodologies and theoretical frameworks from a global perspective to produce new knowledge and ground-breaking research.



The CIVITAS DEI Department of Archaeology brings together an extraordinary community of people committed to advancing and transforming our understanding of the past of the city of Jerusalem through innovative research. It aims to convey knowledge to society to contribute to vital wider conversations and help to navigate a wiser, more peaceful and stable future.



CIVITAS DEI’s library has the mission to collect and secure copies of all books and publications published on subject of the city of Jerusalem, in any language and in any country in the world.
